Mr. Daniyal Aziz, Project
Leader
He holds over 22
years of experience in governance, institutional
reform and economic development, with a career
spanning involvement in national and local politics,
civil society leadership, and international
networking. He has played pioneering role in
evolving the processes, structures, policies and
implementation of devolution dimensions in Pakistan
and brings with him a vast expertise in adding value
to GINI's vision and mission.
Mr. Aziz is the
Former Chairman of the National Reconstruction
Bureau (NRB), with the status of Federal Minister
under the Prime Minister's Secretariat of Pakistan
which pioneered in restructuring governance and
promoting local self-governance and restructuring
federal, provincial and local institutions and
systems and structures in the country.
He has also been the
elected Chairman of the Forum on Ministers of Social
Development in Asia, and currently heads various
donor-led governance reform initiatives including
the Devolution Trust for Community Empowerment (DTCE).
He was Thrice elected to the National Assembly of
Pakistan from Shakargarh in District Narowal in
1997, 2002 and 2013. For all these efforts and
achievements he was conferred upon Tamgha-e-Imtiaz
(Civil) - an award conferred by the Government of
Pakistan for meritorious and distinctive efforts and
achievements.
He holds a Master of
Arts in Development Economics and Rural Finance from
Boston, USA.

Mr. Sabieh Haider Bukhari,
Manager (Research)
He has
over 6 years of experience, supporting and conducting
action research in policy areas such as Education,
Healthcare, Governance, Climate Change, Democracy and
Decentralization. He has supported and researched
Baseline Studies and Project Proposals like “Competition
Assessment of Private Health and Education Sectors in
Pakistan”, "Research to Support a New Growth Framework
for Sustained Economic Growth of Pakistan" and
“Mis-Governance and Radicalization Nexus in Pakistan”.
As a researcher, he has acquired skills of management,
coordination and an appetite for action research. He has
a special knack and practical experience of liaising
with policy community as well as coordinating with
parliamentarians and local government officials. His M.
Phil dissertation titled “Devolution of Education
through 18th Amendment: A Study in Policy Making” has
proved his grasp over public policy and management in
the country. He has also completed his latest research
on "Property Taxation in the Punjab Province" and
"Review and Implementation of Tax Policy and Enterprise
Development in the countries of South Asia".
He has
an M. Phil (Government & Public Policy), National Defence
University, Islamabad along with having a Masters
of Sciences in Economics from Quaid-e-Azam University,
Islamabad, Pakistan.

Mr.
Danyal Kamal,
Research Associate
He has over 2 years of experience conducting
social, political, health and social media research.
He has worked for the Institute for Public Policy
and Survey Research and the College of Communication
at Michigan State University. He has significant
knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core
competencies including communication, team work,
initiative/self management, accountability and
flexibility/adaptability. He also has substantial
experience in the fields of Project/Program Cycle
Management and policy research, acquiring management
skills in desk research, focus group discussion,
surveys and report writing. He is holding a
Bachelors of Arts majors in Management & General
Administration from Michigan State University, MI, USA.
